Hilo Burrito is a friend of mine
Give him a tennis ball and he'll be fine
Wake up early nearly all the time
Hilo Burrito is a friend of mine
Ruby Doobie is a little bean
Hugs & kisses for everyone she sees
How could you ever say that she looks mean?
Ruby Doobie is a little bean
Hush a bye baby now don't you cry
Poppa's gonna sing you a little lullaby
Ain't no monsters coming for you, still...
If the thunder don't get you than the lightning will
Miko Chico is a punk you see
Cutest little terror that you ever seen
Foxy coyote chase the little bean
Miko Chico is a punk you see
Hush a bye baby now don't you cry
Poppa's gonna sing you a little lullaby
Ain't no monsters coming for you, still...
If the thunder don't get you than the lightning will

Well the welfare streets don't look so bad in the winter time
Just a little bit of snow can make any part of Providence Divine
Through the wind & sleet the whores turning tricks they feel no shame
To get 2 for 9 vials they're so determined not to feel any pain
And I know at the time that everything was alright
But looking back now I can't believe we survived
How's I to know shit could ever get that bad?
The warmer weather brings all the insects towards the light
We were standing on the porch, singing Motown music all night
The neighborhood Romeos serenade the girls with blue pickup lines
Well the cops don't even know gunshots from firecrackers in July
And I know at the time that everything was alright
But looking back now I can't believe we survived
How's I to know shit could ever get that bad?
My little baby caught the D-Train, never ever coming on back.
And I know at the time that everything was alright
Looking back now I can't believe we survived
I went and gave you everything that I had
And you broke my heart and left me in this ghetto feeling bad
How was I to know the blues could ever be this sad?

My old man was known as a Motörhead,
He had racing blood in his veins.
Always had a garage full of hot rods man,
He said son we'll get ‘em running one of these days.
When I was 8yrs old I helped him rebuild the rear end of a 55' Chevrolet.
His two lane blacktop dreams, were never to be,
Responsibilities would get in the way.
And if he ever had a regret, he ain't ever got ‘em running yet.
And it always smelled of gasoline, always smelled of gasoline.
Always smelled of gasoline when I was growing up.
Well the first time I went to the drag races man,
I was about ten years old.
There was burning rubber in the air, all greasers with their hair,
Man you should have seen them go.
Well I saw Big Daddy Don Gartlits in the swamp rat,
And you know that he was the king.
With Shirley Muldowney in the bounty hunter man,
And everyone would bow to the queen.
And they were like gods to me, As big as Jim Rice or Carl Yastrzemski.
And it always smelled of gasoline, always smelled of gasoline.
Always smelled of gasoline when I was growing up.
There was time when cars were mostly made of metal and we were proud.
To spend the weekend with grease under our nails.
Making them big block motors real damn loud.
Now everything is made of plastic these days,
People can’t change their own oil.
No not me ... That gasoline ... Brings me back to those days.
It was sometime in my 30's man..
When I got that motor bug itch.
I bought 64' Ford Galaxie and she promptly broke down in a ditch.
Well that 302 engine stills sits in my garage
and you know it’s collecting dust.
No time & no money, just like my old man's dreams ...
Well they fell to shit in a pile of rust.
And you know I’ll always regret, that I still ain't got her running yet.

California (Here I Come)
03:59
|
|||
Well the sun was high & the earth was dry
The only water falling was from our eyes
And the winds came and carried all hope away
Well the bank took all the land away
And their ain't no place for us to stay
So we're heading for that promised land
Just trying to provide a life for my family
With some pride & dignity
Can’t you see
Now we're on our way to California
Where all our dreams are sure to come true
Well you live your life in a paradise
The milk & honey flow up past your eyes
And it's true...
California Here I Come
Well you live your life in a paradise
The milk & honey flow up past your eyes
Live your life in a paradise
The milk & honey flow up past your eyes
And it's true...
California Here I Come

Feel Like You Do
04:24
|
|||
I've been searching for a reason
Damn near all my life and I never did find
A single shred of any evidence
Of a loving higher power above us all to clearly guide...
But I want this God to put His hand out (to feel like)
I want this God to speak to me and show His face (to feel like)
Why can't I just believe and Feel Like You Do
Wish I could believe like the pious do
I recall the very first time
I heard Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
And it really kinda blew my mind
It was something pure & true like from a dream I had always known
And I learned to play with a passion (to feel like)
Through the music I found I could confess all my sins (to feel like)
Music just makes me …
Music makes me feel like I could believe in you
I use to hide from the outside
Ain't nobody know me then I won't know pain
And when it felt that life had got too hard
I just couldn't concede when old Stevie told me to go have a talk with God
I took all them drugs to dull the senses (to feel like)
I made an idol of my fear and called it God. (to feel like)
Why can't I just believe and feel like you do...
Music makes me feel like I could believe in you

Christ, I wish I could take back just what I said
Lord only knows what was going through my head
I wanna high tail and be leaving
Since I've torn it all apart
I need to stay right here & mend your broken heart
All you needed was some security
Now I've broken all the bonds we have made
I wanna high tail and be leaving
Since I've torn it all apart
I need to stay right here & mend your broken heart
I'll make you see, you'll be safe here in my arms
I'll make you see, you'll be safe from any harm
There’ll be no more threats of leaving
We'll go back to the start
Stay right here & mend your broken heart

More Than I Can Take
04:32
|
|||
Let us float on down with the slipstream,
let the water wash away all impurities.
Pay no mind the destination,
with our hands entwined everything will be just fine.
And if the world should ever end, could mankind begin again?
Well I don’t know how, well I don’t know how.
The wretchedness of humanity will bring the ruin of all we see.
Well I don’t know how, Well I don’t know how.
Feels like it’s more than I can take,
and this world makes my heart break.
Feels like it’s more than I can take,
as long as I have you we’re gonna make it somehow.
Baby, baby please I know we’ll make it somehow. Baby, baby please …
Fly away from the lights of the city,
Forever gaze upon the beauty of the infinite stars.
And you can chase them fireflies so pretty,
Our love nobody could ever deny.
I will fight for you till the end of time.
And it feels like the world is gonna end,
Will there be hope for our fellow man?
Well I don’t know how, Well I don’t know how.
The wretchedness of humanity will bring the ruin of all we see.
Well I don’t know now, Well I don’t know now.
Feels like it’s more than I can take, and this world makes my heart break.
Feels like it’s more than I can take, as long as I have you.
Round and round the world it spins,
Will this madness ever come to an end, ever end?
Round and round the world it goes,
Will it stop now no one seems to know, seems to know …

Sweet Marie
03:39
|
|||
Marie always wanted to be a dancer
Just like all little girls growing up do
She had those Broadway lights shining in her eyes
But couldn't get the shit off her shoes
So she went to state college but didn't get far
Ended up working in some chain restaurant bar
She always came home reeking of food and despair
And regret of never reaching for the stars
And something inside of her just kind of died
She didn't sparkle like she used to do
Complacency over took her dreams
And I always felt sorry for you
Me I always wanted to be John Lennon
If I could write a song half as good as Nowhere Man
Well most of them were shit but I kept trying
As the singer in a rock n roll band
Being sentimental I bought Marie a ring
I thought that was what you were supposed to do
Man we were so damn young...
We had barely graduated from high school
And I knew that dream it just wasn't mine
A house, a wife and kids just wasn't me
So I signed my name on that record contract, man
And I never saw Marie again...
Don't give up, little Sweet Marie
You're only young once and it'll never ever come back again.
You’re only young once and it’ll never come back ..
And I knew that dream it just wasn't mine,
A house, a wife and kids just wasn't me
So I signed my name on that record contract, man,
And I never saw Marie again...

Long As I Have You
03:57
|
|||
I've always been a rock & roller
I've been a rebel all my life
Ain't got need for no authority, find a job,
settle down and get a goddam wife.
But you just came along now baby
You turned my world upside down
You got me spinning baby up, down, turnaround,
proposing with one knee upon the ground
Contrary to the things that we were always told
We all know the streets ain't even paved with no gold
I'd be the richest man that anyone could know
As Long As I Have You, As Long As I Have You, As Long As I Have You.
Well people told me I was a preacher
Believed I could reveal the way
Just looking back upon those half grown, naive words
My sermons ain't got much to say
And you came along now baby
You burned my soapbox to the ground
You revealed I need to be a man of my word
Stop hiding 'neath the makeup of a clown
Contrary to the things that we were always told
We all know the streets ain't even paved with no gold
I'd be the richest man that anyone could know
As Long As I Have You, As Long As I Have You, As Long As I Have You.
You need never have to worry, You need never be sad
Just look upon all the good times mama, You & me ever did have
I'll never give you on up and mama that ain't no lie
Because I'm gonna love you mama till the god damn day that I die.
Contrary to the things that we were always told
We all know the streets ain't even paved with no gold
I'd be the richest man that anyone could know
As Long As I Have You, As Long As I Have You, As Long As I Have You.

The Other Ones
04:56
|
|||
Blunt sharp and stinging
Was the blow to my head
No insult was spoken
No words ever said
And if I sought vengeance
From my wrath you can't hide
You better run, fast as you can
You better run, fast as you can
You better run, fast as you can
You can't ever escape the truth
I'll never be like all the other ones
I just can't stand this
Don't know how much I can take
To endure this torture
You know that surely I'll break
And if I sought vengeance
From my wrath you can't hide
You better run, fast as you can
You better run, fast as you can
You better run, fast as you can
You can't ever escape the truth
I'll never be like all the other ones
Don't wanna be like all the other ones
I'd rather be some kind of freak instead of you
I'll never be like all the other ones
I'd rather be some kind of freak instead of you
